Chalala Farm

Chalala Farm, located in the Swartland District between Malmesbury and Darling in the Western Cape, is one of Africa’s largest and most advanced pig farming operations. As part of the Number Two Piggeries group, Chalala Farm houses approximately 4,800 sows and produces around 60,000 pigs on-site. To support its substantial energy needs and commitment to sustainability, Chalala Farm partnered with Solarcare to install a powerful 1,400 kWp solar energy system. This initiative not only reduces operational costs but also minimizes the farm’s environmental footprint, aligning with modern agricultural practices that prioritize efficiency and eco-friendliness.
